


Bio:
A folk rock trio active for about
three years during the late 1960s. Derek and Elaine Thompson were twins born in
Belfast. They formed the singing duo Elaine & Derek at a young age in
the late 1950s. They were quite successful, recording for several from several
labels.
Derek and Elaine met Larry Johns in 1965 approx. Johns was a
jazz/big band musicians. They formed the trio Odin's People and recorded
two fine singles in the style of The Seekers for Major Minor in 1967.
Odin's People split ca 1968. Derek concentrated on
acting (he'd already appeared in the cult science fiction/musical fantasy film
Gonks Go Beat in 1965) and is now best known for his portrayal of the character
Charlie Fairhead in BBC One's Casualty. He also had a memorable role in
The Long Good Friday.
Elaine and Larry worked as a duo playing
army bases, cruise ships and the cabaret circuit, where they worked for over 30
years.
